Referral to the Legal Authority
Upon the student’s third unexcused absence per semester or the
student’s seventh total absence per semester, without the
required documentation, the student and the parent shall be
referred by the school to the appropriate legal authority having
jurisdiction. The parent or student may face penalties including
a fine, loss of custody of the student, or incarceration for
each day missed.

Upon the student’s tenth absence per semester, regardless of the
reasons for the absences, a student may be referred to the legal
authorities for further investigatioabove may be applicable.
